Winterization

Boating season is winding down and it is time to think about winterizing your boat engine for the long winter season. Here are some tips for protecting your engine from the moisture and harsh winter weather. Make sure who ever winterizes your engine doesn't just drain the engine block, but changes the oil in the gearcase and fogs it. Changing oil in the gearcase ensures that no moisture will attack gears and bearings over long winter months. Changing oil in a four stroke outboard ensures that harmful contaminants and moisture are removed from the crankcase before they can cause engine damage. Be sure to stabilize left over fuel and or treat with an ethanol protection conditioner. These conditioners are outstanding protection for your engine during off season storage and equally effective during operational use. Ethanol in gas breaks down the petroleum within two months and can cause performance and operational issues. Look for items such as Evinrude's 2+4 fuel conditioner or Yamaha's fuel stabilizer& conditioner plus to get the maximum protection. As your certified Yamaha, Evinrude and Mercruiser dealer, our factory trained technicians will see that all proper procedures are performed to safeguard your engine. Book your winterizing appointment soon.
